Tulum's 2023 Vegan Food Guide

Updated January 2023 📌

After two years living in Tulum it was time to update this guide with my current favourite vegan places here. Some remain the same, and there’s no surprise, there’s tons of new spots I love.

This fast-growing beach town is a plant-based foodie’s dream come true.

Make the most of your trip by adding these plantiful spots to your list.

Liefs Vegan Van

Still one of my favourite OG spots in Tulum. Can’t deny Liefs cafe espuma… it’s dubbed the best iced-coffee in town, you really can’t miss this one. The venue itself is super unique and charming. The Volkswagens converted into food trucks is an Instagram moment on it’s own.

Their homemade banana bread is to die for. And, my personal favourite dish is the bounty bowl something about that secret sauce they use… it’s incredible.

Vivo Tulum

I dream about VIVO most days. It’s a great spot to work from on your laptop if I’m wanting to work outside for the day, I’ll choose here.

This local restaurant delivers quality food literally cooked to perfection. They offer generous portion sizes, and the quality of their ingredients always over delivers my expectations.

Something unique about VIVO is they source all their products locally. I’m ona mission to try everything on their menu… so far… I recommend the burger, buddha bowl, and tempura tacos… GUYS... they also have sweet potato wedges!!! Oh, and their homemade ravioli is killer too! … basically everything is good. lol.

Seedling

This wholesome cafe is my new favourite. It’s a small shop that sells natural healing products and whole food dishes including some of the best raw vegan desserts in Tulum.

All items are plant-based and gluten-free. If I am craving a dessert; this is where I go! The snickerdoodle bar is unreal, and the banana cinnamon roll is next level. I admire the attention to detail in the ingredients they use, everything is low sugar, whole food and highly nutritious. You can really feel the love here.

Casa Vegana

This rooftop patio is a new addition to Tulum’s vegan food scene. Offering some extremely delicious dishes, with homemade touches. For example the made from scratch chef’s creational cheese they use, is some of the best I’ve tried.

I highly recommend stoping in for breakfast as their house empanada’s are made from scratch (the black bean with plantain is my fav) 10/10 must-try.

Laylo Vegan Lounge

This tropical shack has been one of my go-tos since day one. I find their price point is super reasonable and the quality of their dishes remains consistent.

Items you gotta try — The sushi burger, cauliflower tacos and their thick smoothies (they do smoothies the best in Tulum in my opinion!)

Real Coconut Kitchen

what I love about the real coconut is their attention to detail, and combination of ingredients… with some of the best vegan chicken I’ve tried here.

Now with two locations in Tulum, it’s super accessible if you don’t wanna make a trip to the beach to try.

My only complaint is their price point as they do charge more, than any other vegan place in Tulum.

El Banjo Vegan Tacos

This place has it covered if you’re looking for authentic Mexican Vegan tacos on a budget - they have about 7 best sellers.

Each taco is less than $1 with all the meat-alternatives a vegan could wish for. The vibe of the restaurant is funky, hip and extremely casual. Go ready to try a version of each taco.

Get the soy-suadero taco! My fav…Yummmm!

Tierra Restaurant at Holistika

Holistika is pure magic. They incorporate all the things I love about Tulum into one spot. Tranquil scenery, delicious wholesome food, and good vibes.

Some of the best breakfast food for vegan foodies, the cacao smoothie bowl is unreal if you fancy something sweet and creamy.

You read it here first — BEST avocado toast in Tulum!

They also do a baked ‘dessert of the day’ which always delivers.

Hop over to their cute vegan shop called YOM YOM before heading out. Where they sell dips, kombuchas, ice cream, and raw desserts for takeaway.

Co.Con Amor

This backyard style restaurant is a favourite amongst the local crowd here in Tulum. Very reasonable prices for their dishes. The coconut spring rolls are why I keep coming back. Their homemade burgers are pretty decent too!

If you’re looking for a supplement store in Tulum their Zero Waste bulk shop is where you go. (bring your own container)

Matcha Mama

The leading smoothie bowl iconic location(s) in Tulum. Now with four venues in all sectors of Tulum. I have to admit they do a damn good smoothie bowl, it’s always cold, and thick just as you want, when it’s dipping hot outside.

Their price for portion is reasonable, and with all their custom add-on’s and options there’s something for everyone here. My top flavours are the Papacito and Nutty Monkey

My favourite location remains the Tulum Centro one!
